Year 5 had a busy day on Thursday 13th July. They had spent the previous day at New Mills Secondary School experiencing Science, Art, French, Computer Science and Resistant Materials.
Thursday began with their class assembly where they had the chance to show off their spoken French as well as tell the school and their parents and friends what they have been learning about over the last few weeks. They even tried to persuade Miss Whetstone to let them go on a trip to Paris…she didn’t say no! We’ll keep working on her!
Le petit dejeuner of croissants et pain au chocolat avec jus d’orange ou jus de pomme in the hall with their parents and friends followed before going back to class. La carte postale was next! They pretended to be in Paris and wrote and designed a postcard for their family.
After some orienteering with Mrs Fisher and lunch they finished the cards and went on a walk through New Mills to post them and see how many buildings they could name in French – le magasin, le cafĂ©, le marche, le supermarche, la poste, l’hotel de ville, la bibliotheque and finally, le parc!
A busy but very enjoyable day!
Fab photos! Alfie loved this assembly and particularly loved writing and posting the postcard.
This was so much fun! I really enjoyed myself ????
