On a very sunny Wednesday afternoon, High Peak Sports Partnership held a MapQuest event in Manor Park, Glossop. Twelve schools from across the High Peak took part in this fun orienteering event. Children were split into teams of three and given a map of the park. They then had to find a range of checkpoints around the park marked by orange and white flags. The children were given twenty minutes to find as many checkpoints as they could, after which time a hooter was sounded and they returned to the start where the points were added up. New Mills Primary School took two Year 4 teams to the event; New Mills Explorers and New Mills Adventurers. Both teams did a great job of working together to find the checkpoints. When the results were read out, New Mills Adventurers had found enough checkpoints to come second in the Key Stage 2 category – a great result. Well done to Shea, Harry and Serenity, Michaela, Ivan and Klaudia for their great effort.
