On Wednesday 22nd March, five schools from around New Mills took part in the High Fives Netball competition held at New Mills Leisure Centre.
High Fives Netball is a version of Netball which has been simplified to enable Primary School children to get an understanding of the game. Each team member has the chance to play all the different positions and also has the opportunity to be timekeeper for the games.
New Mills Primary School took two teams to the event; the Red team captained by Jodie and the blue team captained by Danielle. It was great to see all the children raise their game and play much better than we had seen during our practise sessions. Mrs Fisher would like to make a particular mention to Erin in Year 6 who chased every ball, marked her player brilliantly and scored an excellent goal. Well done, Erin.
The final was played between Hayfield Red team and Newtown. Hayfield won easily with a score of 5-0. Hayfield will go on to represent the High Peak in the Area Finals.
Well done Hayfield – the standard of Netball they played was amazing!
