Every year, children from Year 5 get the chance to complete their Bikeability Level 2 qualification which gives them the skills and awareness to ride on the road.
This year, for the first time, children from Year 3, 4 and 5 have been given the chance to complete their Bikeability Level 1 training which teaches basic cycling skills in a fun and engaging way and prepares them for the Bikeability Level 2 award.
Rhys from Cycle Safety Instruction came into school to give the two hour session during which the children were taught the basics of balance and control on their bikes. We learned how to fit our helmets correctly, what clothing to wear for cycling, how to ride with one hand and how to use our brakes in a safe and effective way.
The children worked really hard and everyone learned a new skill or technique. Certificates and badges will be given to all those who took part in assembly on Friday.
