Year 5 were joined by some volunteers from New Mills Festival (and a couple of parents helpers) on Friday to lend a helping hand at constructing lanterns for the procession next week. Some of the children had never made one before – the teamwork skills displayed were excellent.
In just the morning session, the children worked in groups and each group constructed a light bulb from willow then added the tissue paper to their structure. The finishing touch of the tea lights will be added next week.
Look out for the string of light bulbs on display at the Lantern Procession on Saturday 24th September!
I wish we could make them again
