On Tuesday 21st March, five schools from around New Mills took part in the Key Steps Gymnastics Festival held at New Mills Leisure Centre.
The event was very well attended with 100 children taking part in a morning of gymnastics games and activities. All the children were shown a gymnastics based warm up and then were able to practise gymnastics balances, forward rolls and bunny hops. They also had the chance to practise a vault using a proper gymnastics spring board.
The event was led by John Worsley from New Mills School along with Ann Tracey from Glossop Gymnastics club. Mr Worsley commented on how well behaved all the children were and how much progress they all made during the morning – especially as for many children this was their first time using full size gymnastics equipment.
