Year 5 Rounders Competition

Written by Mrs Williams

It seems to have become something of a tradition that it snows for the annual Year 5 & 6 Rounders competition…this year continued the tradition! As the Year 5 team arrived at the pavilion with Mrs Fisher, snowflakes began to fall from the sky. Unlike the blizzard conditions experienced last year, the snowflakes quickly cleared and the games were played in bright sunny conditions.

A number of the participating teams brought two teams which contributed to a great turn out and three leagues. The winner of each league went through to the semi-final.

Our red team got through to their semi but were beaten in that game by St George’s Primary…by just one rounder. The blue team didn’t make their semi; the strong teams of St Mary’s and St George’s provided too fierce a competition. A very strong St Mary’s team won the final – a victory that was well deserved.

Mrs Fisher would like to thank the team captains, Cole  and Willow, and give a special mention to Matthew, Cole, Danni and Jacob for their great batting, and to our School Sport’s Captains, Jodie and Connor who displayed excellent fielding skills in addition to impeccable behaviour, leadership and sportsmanship – clearly demonstrating why they had been selected for these roles.

Well done, Year 5 – you did yourselves proud.
