Year 3 & 4 Rounders Competition

Written by Mrs Williams

The Year 3 and 4 Rounders competition was held on the 4th May at New Mills School Pavillion. The sun shone and everyone was in high spirits – could it really only be a week since the Year 5 and 6 Rounders competition which was called off half way through due to snow!?!

New Mills Primary School took two teams of ten boys and girls to the competition and we competed against pupils from Hayfield, St George’s, Hague Bar and Thornsett. New Mills Blue team were Luke, Adam, Lizzie, Beth, Alfie, Rhys, Oliver, Luc, Lily and Ben. New Mills Red team was Connor, Jodie, Emily, Isabel, Danni, Luca, Lucy, Ethan, Toby and Elliot.

Both teams played really well and there was some great fielding, tactics and team work.  New Mills Red team finished second in their league and New Mills Blue team were also placed in their league. This meant that the New Mills teams would play each other to decide third and fourth place overall!

It finished with the Blue team winning by two rounders! Special mentions go to team captains Jodie and Luke for great sportsmanship, Luca for great bowling and Adam, Lizzie and Beth for great fielding teamwork.

Thank you to all the parents who came to watch – there was a great atmosphere at the event and the children loved having you there to support.
